Food Bank Donations

A huge thankyou to everyone who donated their tins after our Pilates classes before Christmas. These were given to Shepway Foodbank, which covers the Folkestone, Hythe and the Romney Marsh areas. A big thankyou also to Judy Doherty for collecting the tins and taking them in . We collected over 130 tins in all, which is a brilliant contribution.

This idea came about as we had been doing some classes using hand weight once a month as an alternative to exercise bands for additional resistance. Some people don’t have hand weights, so I suggested they bring along tins of beans or water bottles; just something that one would have in the cupboard to save having to buy equipment.

I mentioned once in November that we would be bringing hand weights to classes the following week, and Hannah Meyer suggested we collect the tins for a food bank – such a good idea! And it was thus our first food bank collection was born! I got a workout myself just carrying all the tins! But thanks to those who helped me out to my car with them all. What a brilliant team effort.

Pilgrims Hospices Fundraiser

Your generosity over this last year has been outstanding. In March 2021 we raised £1171 for Pilgrims Hospice in Ashford where Mat’s mum spent her last few days after contracting Covid. We completed a free online ‘Flow, Release and Relax’ class to celebrate teaching for a year online, and received this generous amount in donations . It was so much fun to teach the class and see everyone’s happy faces online. It was an emotional time as Mat and I had lost our mum’s within 3 months of each other during lockdown. So, we had some laughter and tears, too. I will never forget that class, and it’s still there for anyone to take part in again if you want to ‘release and relax’. This class is FREE for anyone to take. If you do this class I ask that you please donate to Pilgrims Hospice at some point.

MacMillan 100 Miles Fundraiser

During October I completed the ‘100 Miles in October’ charity fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support. We usually arrange the Macmillan Coffee morning, but couldn’t do that in 2021 due to the pandemic, so I thought I would complete this challenge instead. Your generosity, along with my cycling, running, roller blading, sea swimming, walking and kitesurfing raised an astounding £1113.62! Thankyou to everyone who came out with me to make the miles more fun and your generosity. Click below for m ore details and photos from the challenge.

And finally, a huge thank you to my husband and business partner Mat, for doing so much behind the scenes to be able me to share my online Pilates with you and share all these events on our website. During this last two years we have become a formidable team, helping to keep everyone doing their Pilates – both face-to-face and online!
