Jane Mackenzie – Biography
With both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in education, I have worked across HE, FE, Work-based Learning, and Adult Community Learning, as well as specialist educational settings.
I have been delivering sports and fitness classes, and training other fitness instructors for 30 years now. Initially, I started teaching swimming, skiing, basketball and Boccia (bowls for disability groups), and then moved into the fitness industry after living in the USA for a year when aerobics was at its height in popularity.
I then worked for 10 years in a college as a Course Leader, Assessor and Internal Quality Assessor (IQA). I worked on their Gym and Exercise to Music courses, and developed their Level 2 Aqua NVQ course. It was a privilege to work with students with mental, physical, visual and hearing impairments in both sports and fitness.
I have also been lucky enough to have worked as a presenter, delivering water-based exercise around the country, I have also delivered CPD workshops for instructors to develop their skills further.
In recent years I have worked on a government driven initiative to develop the use of technology in the classroom. This has given me the skills to bring learning to people nationally and internationally via webinars and online conferences.
In my spare time, my passion is kitesurfing, which is quite possibly the best sport in the world. When there is no wind, I love to get out exploring on my Stand Up Paddle Board, or simply walking the coast or countryside.
I am a Practitioner member of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), and am insured through FitPro.
