Hello Everyone

Now we are in January and can look forward to the spring all being vaccinated there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. We still have a bit of time to wait for that yet, so please still keep safe, healthy and positive. It has been great to see lots more 24/7 participants coming to Zoom now it’s colder outside, and we all need something in our diary and a schedule to stick to. Welcome also to those new to our 24/7 Pilates too. We are all embracing the use of technology during this lockdown as the new normal now, so well done every single one of you who has learnt these new skills.

Beginners Zoom Pilates – Saturdays 10.00 – 11.00 am

Our new Beginners Pilates class has been a huge success in introducing Pilates to some wonderful new participants, and also for those who want to revisit the basics. It has been a pleasure to teach you all. Please do share the details of my 24/7 Online Pilates with anyone you know who might be interested; I would love to introduce them to our group. The Saturday morning feedback was so positive and encouraging, I was truly overwhelmed. Let’s please keep spreading the word.

NEW! Zoom PowerPilates Masterclass Saturday 30th Jan 11.30 am – 12.45pm

We were going to do this class outside but obviously can’t now. You know me, I gave it some thought and have designed an indoor version and want to showcase this in the form of a 75 minute Masterclass. I am very excited about this and really looking forward to doing my first online Zoom Masterclass. (I also have several others coming up soon.) I love developing new classes for you to keep you engaged and focused to always be better than your were yesterday.

PowerPilates applies all the key principles of Pilates, but in a more dynamic way to create a metabolic effect where your body burns up more calories during and after the exercise session. Dynamic PowerPilates moves will include strength work standing and on the mat, to challenge you physically and mentally, as well as challenge your balance, co-ordination, and mobility. All you will need is a mat, a band and plenty of enthusiasm. This class is targeted at those who have been exercising regularly and want a bit more of a challenge now, but of course as usual I will be providing different levels to work at. PowerPilates will be ideal for weight control as well!

The cost is £10 per class or a discount of £8 for 24/7 members. (Includes access to a recording of the class for a week.) Please let me know asap if you would like to come along and book your place. You place will be secured with payment.

Music During Classes

I don’t use music in my online classes for various reasons including copyright, but there is no reason why you can’t listen to music of your choice during recorded or live classes. I thought I would therefore share some links to music on YouTube you might like. You will need to play these on a different device if you are using a mobile or tablet for classes. If you are using a laptop you can have my classes and the music video playing simultaneously in separate tabs. That’s the joy of working out at home. You can create a wonderful calming atmosphere, perfect for you. 24/7 members, click here and scroll down to ‘Listening to Music during Classes’ for a list of links: https://www.janem.co.uk/classes/introduction-important/

Walking for Fresh Air and Working the Heart and Lungs

Whilst the weather hasn’t been the best recently, it’s still important to go outside and get some fresh air. If you are working, try to get out for half an hour a day during your lunch time; it’s going to better for your mind and body to stretch your legs, breath and relax. I mentioned in class the other day that we need to put a bit of uphill walking into our walks to increase the work on the legs and the heart and lungs. We are not talking ‘Everest’, just a bit of uphill to get a training effect. Enjoy nature and just observe what a wonderful world we live in. Please feel free to take photos and share them to my Facebook page to encourage others to be outside too.

Happiness and Health
