Hello Everyone

I hope you are enjoying the Spring sunshine.   We now have an official timetable to get us back into the real world again, and given this – and the better weather – I hope you are starting to feel a bit more positive.  I know for some, over the winter months, exercise and a bit of ‘you’ time may well have taken a back seat to home schooling and working from home etc., but let’s now look forward to a much happier Spring and Summer ahead!

Indoor Group Classes to Resume from Tues 18th May

You may know that gyms are set to re-open from 12th April. Indoor group exercise classes, however, are not allowed to start again until 17th May ‘at the earliest’. We therefore have a while to go yet, so I do hope you will keep up the online classes in the meantime. I am going by the assumption that things won’t get pushed back any further, and intend to restart our indoor Pilates classes from Tuesday 18th May. I will be in touch in a month or so to start booking everyone in, and will of course let you know if anything changes.

Outdoor Classes from April

Outdoor classes are able to resume earlier, so I plan to start doing some outdoor group and 1-to-1 Pilates classes from around mid-April onwards, weather permitting, of course. Let me know if you would be interested in these.

Online Pilates Classes to Continue

It’s been fantastic that our online Pilates classes – both live and recorded – have proved so popular during the pandemic, and we firmly intend to keep these going after lockdown for those unable or who prefer not to attend face-to-face classes. So many of my Pilates family appreciate being able to improve their core strength, balance, flexibility and wellbeing all in the comfort and safety of their own homes.

We currently have three Zoom classes each week (Tues 6.30pm, Thurs 10am, beginners on Saturday 10am) and we now have over 48 full hour recorded classes, plus half hour focus classes and a database of exercise moves and Pilates challenges – and you can take classes as many times as you like. I am sure you would agree for just £5 per week, this is fantastic value! Please see my testimonials from those taking part in my online classes this year. So many of you have become stronger than ever during lockdown, and many have joined me for the first time, and have noticed how Pilates has changed their quality of life.

Our Next PowerPilates Masterclass

Our next Masterclass will be PowerPilates #3 on Saturday 13th March at 11.30 am. The last two of these masterclasses have been fully booked, so let me know soon if you want to attend to avoid disappointment. Your places will be secured once payment is received.

Thank you so much for everyone who has been attending my Masterclass series over the last few months. These events have been a huge success and I have received very positive feedback on how your bodies are reacting to a bit more of a challenge, physically and mentally. Below is just some of the wonderful feedback I have received. It reminds me why I love teaching Pilates, and why I teach these Masterclasses. Some of these people only started doing Pilates with me during lockdown! All I can say is WOW and thank you so much for taking the leap online over this year, it was worth it!

  • “I woke up this morning, no pain or muscle soreness! So the level was spot on for me, but not too challenging. BUT, for the first time in a year, I managed to get out of bed this morning, and no be in pain. It usually takes me about 20 mins before I can bend and get dressed. So thank you for that.” Dianne Kent.
  • “A fantastic close this morning. I feel I’ve worked my whole body. I’m feeling the benefits each week. My shoulders are more loose and comfortable – have been lying on the foam roller and circling my arms, it makes such a difference.” Denise Wright
  • “Thank you so much for the roller class last week. I really enjoyed it and loved the challenges. I  usually use the roller to release pressure after my running but never used it on my lats. A revelation! I also loved the exercise with the table-top”. Laura Berbuig

FREE! Zoom Charity Pilates Celebration Class, Sat 27th March

I can hardly believe that I shall soon have been running Pilates classes online for a whole year! To celebrate this milestone, I shall be running a FREE Charity Pilates Class (fancy dress optional!) on Saturday 27th March at 10.00 am. We will be raising money this time for the local Pilgrims Hospice in Ashford. They looked after Mat’s mum in her last days and were amazing, and due to the pandemic they need our support more than ever. It’s going to be a fun fancy dress class (optional) with an intention to laugh and love Pilates. Click below for the Zoom link to access this class, and also a link to make a donation to Pilgrims Hospices:

This event is open to everyone, so please spread the word to your friends and family. Let’s make this a celebration of sharing our Pilates together over the last year. And if you haven’t been doing online classes, please do join us! It will be so lovely to see you again. I have loved seeing your smiling faces online and miss those I haven’t seen in such a long time now. (This class will replace my regular beginners online class that day.)

Motivation March – We Can Do This Together!

I would very much like you all to post on my Facebook group things that have motivated you to get through this last lockdown. Anything from photos, quotes, a video, or just write what you have done or what keeps you motivated. If you aren’t on Facebook, you can share these things with me via email, WhatsApp etc., and I will post them up on your behalf. I want to do this every day and then put them all together at the end of the month, to share the wonderful things everyone has done to stay motivated and hopefully encourage others. If you have any questions please get in touch.

That’s all for now. I look forward to seeing you online through March, and hopefully in person outside in April, and then from May onwards inside and outside throughout the summer.

Happiness and Health
