Hello Everyone

I know I have been saying it a lot, but it really does look like the weather is finally perking up. So, this email is mostly about doing our Pilates and walking outside.

What kit to bring to class the next two weeks

Week commencing 17th June – Stretch, Release and Relax class. Please bring along your long band, TP balls (I have some spare to borrow) a roller short or long (can be used instead of the TP balls). An eye mask and blanket if it’s not warm.

Week commencing 24th June – Weights class. The following week we shall be using hand weights in class for some added resistance and bone-loading. I have both 1 kg and 1.5 kg hand weights and all other equipment available in my shop. Buy now and I’ll bring them to class for you: https://www.janem.co.uk/shop/ . Or you can bring food tins or small bottles of water to use as weights instead. The use of weights is of course optional, if some of you would prefer to continue exercising without. Your arms weigh something anyway!

Pilates Walk Saturday 22nd June 10 am

We will meet at Hythe Sailing Club at 10am. We are going to walk along the Hythe Ranges as they are not firing that weekend. This will be a flat walk approx.. 1.5 – 2 hours there and back. I will need to check if dogs can be taken. I would think so, but will check. If is an off-road track, so please wear walking shoes suitable for this. Trainers should be OK. We can have a drink at the Sailing Club after and they do lovely café food there too. If anyone wants to go for a swim afterwards, please bring your swimming things. This part is optional, and it will depend on the sea conditions too.  I have booked a sunny day for us, so bring along your hat, sunglasses, sun cream, water, and an extra layer if it’s windy!

Outdoor classes

Those who attend classes where we have an outside area, please be prepared with your hat, sunglasses and sun cream and an extra layer if it’s the evening classes. If you have a dark mat, bring a lighter coloured towel to put on top of your mat for the daytime classes so you don’t get too hot. The classes I can potentially teach outside are: Three Hills Tues 5.30pm class, Sellindge Sports and Social Club Tues 10.45am and Wed 9.30am, Shepway Close Wed 11.30am (inside or outside class), Hythe Cricket Club Wed 6pm (if no cricket is on), Thurs 9.30am, 10.45 (inside or outside class).

Special Outdoor classes on the Leas and Hythe

I will keep an eye on the weather and start these in July if it looks like it’s staying settled. I will email nearer the time. I teach this at the west end of the Leas where it is quiet at 8.30am- 9.30am. I was going to do a few down in Hythe too on the sea front (Power Pilates), for those who live down that way, or those who enjoyed that class previously. This is a more dynamic standing class where we use the chairs and bars to use bands and body weight work.

24/7 Online special classes from Florida

Whilst on holiday, Mat and I recorded three classes from beautiful locations in Florida. The first of these is due for release on Sunday. So why not guarantee yourselves a bit of ‘Pilates sunshine’ and join me online now, for Pilates whenever you like, Zoom classes at no extra cost, back health videos and much more. Not to mention a £2 discount on every group class you take with me as well! https://www.janem.co.uk/jane247/

That’s all for now, I look forward to seeing you this week in class or online.

Happiness and health

Jane Mackenzie
