Easing of Lockdown Restrictions
After the government announcement on Tuesday, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how disappointed we are that there is still no end in sight to the closure of all leisure facilities and indoor exercise classes. Professional industry bodies, other instructors and gyms alike have all expressed their dismay that while we are now allowed to go to pubs, eat out, visit theme parks, museums and other attractions, we are still not permitted to go to the gym or participate in group exercise. It’s hardly a policy aimed at keeping us strong and fit through physical and mental health!
My professional industry body is CIMSPA – The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity. You may also be interested in their response to the announcement, which includes details of how they are working with relevant bodies to push the government to reopen sports and leisure facilities as soon as possible: https://www.cimspa.co.uk/cimspa-news/news-home/reopening-the-sport-and-physical-activity-sector
What we can and indeed shall do is continue delivering Pilates to you online to the very highest quality. We have developed an integrated approach to online Pilates instruction, as closely as possible mirroring face-to-face delivery, through a combination of high quality recorded classes, complete with guidance notes and exercise alternatives, live Zoom sessions, plus of course you are encouraged to message or call me with any questions or concerns. We call this ‘Jane Mackenzie 24/7’.
Give Jane Mackenzie 24/7 a Try!
It appears that lockdown is going to be longest and hardest of all on the fitness industry and instructors like myself, so I am extremely grateful and proud of everyone who has adapted along with us, and joined in with Jane Mackenzie 24/7 Online Pilates. Take-up of Jane Mackenzie 24/7 has been fantastic, and lots of you are telling me you are now not only doing more Pilates, but are also losing weight and feeling healthier as well – so very well done!
And it’s never too late to start our online classes – we have new signups every week, and are firmly planning to keep online classes running after group classes resume, to offer a truly flexible service to you, and with a payment structure that makes it cost-effective for you to have both opens available! (More on that soon.)

New One-to-One Pilates Options
We’ve also improved the service we offer to my one-to-one Pilates clients, and are now offering the option of access to specific online services in conjunction with your face-to-face tuition. Please read about how this works here: https://www.janem.co.uk/pilates/one-to-one-pilates-folkestone/
One-to-one Pilates sessions can be taken outdoors (in your garden or elsewhere) or via video link, as you prefer. (And as soon as we are permitted, back indoors in your home as well.) Do let me know if you would like to book a one-to-one or two-to-one Pilates session, I’m already quite busy, but will do my best to fit you in as soon as I can.
Jane’s Radio Interview
I was happy to be given the opportunity to speak live on air yesterday to Academy Radio Folkestone about our Pilates business, the ways in which we have adapted during these challenging times, and the importance of exercising in general. If you would like to listen to a recording of my interview, please click here: https://www.janem.co.uk/2020/06/jane-mackenzie-academy-fm-radio-interview/
That’s all for now. Hopefully we shall soon have news about when we can start group classes again!
