Hello Everyone

I know this can be a time for hibernating, so well done in getting out in the bad weather to keep up your Pilates; I do love seeing you all! Let’s use this cold, wet time to really focus on our health. Exercise is so important for our physical and mental wellbeing. Try to get outside as much as you can to get some Vitamin D from the sun and fresh air to the body. Only this week I was thinking how wonderful it is that so many of you have made friends through coming along to our Pilates classes and you will often hear me say we are a ‘Pilates family’, and I truly believe that. Our social events are building in numbers, so please feel free to join our WhatsApp Social Group. Just message me and I will add you. There are 36 in the group now!

Classes are very busy now!

Many of our classes are very busy or even full now, so if you are a regular, please make sure you book up well in advance to make sure of your space each week. And when booking, please check my Availability page first and – if the bar is yellow – you do need to check with me first before booking as there may not be space available every week: https://www.janem.co.uk/availability/

Please also remember that I do need a week’s notice if you wish to change a pre-paid class to a different week, although I will do what I can to swap you over to another class subject to availability, a Zoom class, or even a recorded class – during that same week – so you don’t miss out.

What to bring to class w/c 20th February – Weights

This week we shall be using hand weights in class for some added resistance and bone-loading. I have both 1 kg and 1.5 kg hand weights available in my shop. Buy now and I’ll bring them to class for you: https://www.janem.co.uk/shop/ . Or you can bring food tins or small bottles of water to use as weights instead. The use of weights is of course optional, if some of you would prefer to continue exercising without. Your arms weigh something anyway!

‘Tintastic’ food bank collection, from 20th to 29th Feb

During the next two weeks I shall be coordinating another of our regular food bank donation for the Rainbow Centre. If you bring tins to use as weights, you are welcome if you wish to leave them with me as donations. Or, if you bring weights, you may also wish to bring some tins or other non-perishable items anyway. We had an amazing collection last time, so please support this if you can. The Rainbow Centre urgently needs: breakfast spreads, custard, tinned meats and fruit, clothes washing tablets, coffee, hot dogs. For tins, please try to get the ones with ring pulls on, and make sure the foods are within date. Obviously, any other products you have will be gratefully received and appreciated, too; nothing will go to waste!

Holiday Dates

We shall be taking a week’s holiday in March, so there will be no classes on the following dates (including Zoom and 1-1 classes) on the following dates. Those of you who have booked dates during the holiday, I have carried your classes over to the weeks following it, so please let me know if you need to change any of those.

  • Tuesday 12th March – all classes cancelled
  • Wednesday 13th March – all classes cancelled
  • Thursday 14th March – all classes cancelled
  • Classes resume as normal from Tuesday 19th March

Keep up your Pilates over our Holiday

Why not swap one of your group classes for 10 days 24/7 Online Pilates whilst I’m away, so you don’t need to miss a week? In doing so you will have access to over 130 full hour classes, including many special outdoor classes filmed in lovely locations. Plus lots of convenient half-hour/20min classes, our database demonstrating over 70 Pilates exercises, exercise challenges, my Back Health Toolkit and weight control resources. Pilates Walk Saturday 20th April

For our next social walk, I was thinking of doing a countryside walk, and finishing at a pub for lunch (optional, or course). Please let me know who is interested in the walk and/or lunch. You can let me know in class, or if you are online just message me, or through our WhapsApp social group. Everyone is welcome, and I shall look into finding a nice dog-friendly pub.
