Hello Everyone – I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

The New Year is often a time to reflect, and it’s been another strange and challenging year for so many. Two things that stood out for me are your smiles and motivation to continue your Pilates (both online and face to face) – you are truly amazing! More than ever, we know our physical and mental health is so important during the pandemic and beyond. Pilates and your health should never be a short term habit, rather one for life, as it is for me.

Two Reminders

Our prices for 2022

  • Group classes: block of 4: £32.00  (or £24 for 24/7 members)
  • Group classes: single class: £9.00  (or £7 for 24/7 members)
  • Online Pilates: 28 day membership: £22

Lateral Flow Tests

Whilst not compulsory, I would be really grateful if you could take a lateral flow test before you come to class each week, as I do, so we can all work together to keep each other safe. It’s a small inconvenience that can make a big difference. Please review our current Covid safety information, which I keep posted at the top of key pages of our website: https://www.janem.co.uk/availability/

Want to Join Me Online?

Whilst face-to-face classes remain very popular, I do understand that some of you may not yet feel ready to join in with others, so we continue to run our fantastic online Pilates service ‘Jane Mackenzie 24/7’ for those who wish to take advantage of this. With 75+ recorded classes, live Zoom classes each week, our extensive Pilates Exercise Database, Weight Control Resources and member benefits, it’s great value too at just £5.50 per week!

To help those who can’t make their face-to-face class short-notice, I’m also offering a swap to a live Zoom class you can take from home. More details of my online Pilates here: https://www.janem.co.uk/jane247/

Getting Back on Track Post Christmas

Often at this time of year we have a little too much of everything, and are feeling a bit lethargic. Here are five things you can do to get back on track with your healthy lifestyle for 2022. (Those on 24/7 also have access have access to all my weight control resources including an online tracker.)

  1. Go back to your old healthy habits. Eat three healthy meals a day and that’s it, or two if that works for you. When was the last time you felt hungry? It’s Ok to be a hungry. I love making soup at this time of year. It’s easy to make and all healthy ingredients.  I have posted up some soup recipes to help you on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/JanesHandF. Please like and follow my page to see recipes and exercises you can try.
  2. Drink plenty of water. Water is so beneficial and we can’t live without it. And this means water on its own – not with other liquids! Reduce or stop drinking alcohol. It’s a drug and can become addictive, so stopping for even a short while will recalibrate your relationship with it into the New Year.
  3. Plan your meals. Especially at this time of year when we might have been buying naughty foods, and need to get back to our usual healthy diets. Make a list and stick to it. Don’t be tempted by all the left over Christmas foods in the shops!
  4. Get plenty of sleep.  8 hours plus if possible. Go to bed early and get up early. Stop scrolling those devices and binge watching the TV. It’s was fun over Christmas, but isn’t good for you in the long term. When you have enough sleep, you feel better and more able to cope with the day ahead.
  5. Take regular exercise.  No matter what you enjoy taking part in, get back into it. I am really looking forward to seeing you in Pilates next week. I am always explaining in class the benefits of regular exercise and how the body and mind responds to exercise. We don’t have to run a marathon, just get moving regularly – daily is ideal. There are lots of walking, cycling and swimming groups around to get you outside and socialising, too. If anyone wants to join us for an informal sea swim, you are welcome on a Tuesday at 10.15 off Hythe Sailing Club.

See You All Very Soon!

Whilst it’s lovely to have some time off over Christmas to spend time with my family, I do miss my ‘Pilates family’, and very much look forward to seeing you the first week in January. Classes resume on Tuesday 4th January 2022.

Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can have a social gathering again, once COVID settles down a bit. Life is for living, and we have plenty of that to do together over this next year. With that in mind, I am planning to organise a Pilates walk for us all towards the end of January.

Happiness and Health
